Application quota of US H-1B visa holders in Canada fulfilled, Indian professionals who are victims of retrenchment expect benefits

The Canadian government officially opened applications for new work permits for US H-1B visa holders on July 16. Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) says applicants can no longer apply for the scheme. IRCC said on its website that we reached the limit of 10,000 applications for this initiative on 17 July 2023.

Toronto: Indian professionals are sure to get special benefits from the Canadian government's decision to allow 10,000 H-1B visa holders from the US to come and work in the country. The Government of Canada is very excited that the target of application under this scheme has been met on the very first day itself. Canada recently announced this scheme due to the shortage of highly trained professionals in the country.

Additional applications will no longer be accepted

IRCC said on its website that we reached the limit of 10,000 applications for this initiative on July 17, 2023. No additional applications are being accepted now.


H-1B visa holders will benefit

Study and work permits can also be issued to the family members of H-1B visa holders under the scheme. They can apply for temporary residency in Canada.
