Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said the shooting occurred after a brawl between two groups at a Walmart in the Florida city, about 40 kilometers southwest of Miami. One person was arrested and police are looking for five other suspects.
Rescuers transported two victims to the Miami Trauma Center, where one later died. Police said the person who died was involved in the commotion, while the other victim who was standing by during the scuffle suffered a bullet injury in his leg.
There was chaos during firing, many injured
Several others were injured in the chaos caused by the firing, officials said. A woman who fell during the clash and hit her head was also taken to the hospital. Rescue workers treated five other people outside the store for minor cuts and scrapes.
